How to use floor layouts

This article shows you how to create a new layout of a floor model in the Archilogic editor and how to swap between several of these layouts

What are Layouts for?

The layout feature allows you to add additional layouts to an Archilogic floor model. It enables you to work with different versions or designs of the same model that you can easily switch between. This is especially useful when you, for example, want to show a customer or a coworker different versions of a design without having to go back to the dashboard and open a different floor model.

Setting a layout as the main layout also highlights the differences between the new one and the previous main layout so that you can easily spot what has changed and what has remained the same.

Create a new Layout

To create a new layout open an Archilogc floor model in the editor.

Then left-click the main menu button in the top left corner of the window and select
Layout > Duplicate.

After left-clicking “Duplicate” it will take a couple of moments for the new layout to be created.

Once it’s created you will see that the title of the model has changed slightly and now shows a layout name next to it.

You can now start editing the newly created layout in the editor by adding or removing walls and furniture without your original layout being changed in any way. You can also publish your changes as usual.

Rename a Layout

Rename a newly created layout by left-clicking the name of the layout in the title bar and selecting "Rename" from the menu.

A pop-up will open allowing you to type in a new name for the layout. Click the blue “Update” button to confirm the new name.

After clicking the blue “Update” button the new name will show up in the title bar of the selected layout.

Change between Layouts

To change between layouts left-click the layout name in the title bar and select “Open”. Then select the Layout you wish to switch to.

This option will only be available if you have created a new layout before.

After left-clicking the desired layout in the menu the editor will load and show the floor model of the selected layout after a couple of moments.

Set a layout as the main one

Setting a layout as main means that the selected layout will act as the main layout which will be displayed in share links and iframe embeds. It will also be the default layout that will be shown if you look at a floor model in the dashboard or open it in the editor.

To set a layout as main simply left-click the layout name in the title bar, open the layout you wish to be the main layout, as shown above, and then open the menu again and left-click “Set as main”.

The next time you open the floor model in the editor the selected layout will be shown as the default layout.

The editor will now highlight the differences between the layout which will become the new main layout and the previous main layout.

The summary shows you which of the existing objects have changed and what has been added or removed in green or red respectively.

If you’re happy with the changes left-click the blue “Accept” button in the title bar. If you do not wish to set the selected layout as the new main layout click the grey “Cancel” button next to it to cancel the action.

The main layout will be highlighted with (main) behind its name when you switch between layouts.

Delete a layout

You can also delete layouts again. To do so simply select the layout you wish to delete first and then left-click the layout name in the title bar and select “Delete”.

Please note that you can only delete layouts that are not set as the main layout.

If you wish to delete a layout that is set as the main one you first need to set a different layout as the main one as shown above, before you can delete it.
